Casual Forklift Operative

Salary: (starting from)

£16.25

Per Hour

To safely and efficiently operate forklift trucks to move, load, unload, and store goods within the warehouse or vessel environment.

To apply for this role you must be able to demonstrate previous achievements in the following areas:

Responsibilities:

  • Discharge and loading of cargo from / to ships' hold and compartments with the aid of electric forklifts and electric pallet trucks.
  • Ensuring correct and safe stowage without damage, paying particular attention to hazardous or fragile cargo.
  • Use forklifts to move cargo to / from ships side / warehouse, including cold stores.
  • Operating forklifts in and out of racking systems
  • Restacking/breaking down pallets.
  • Follow safety regulations and operational procedures diligently.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Counterbalance Forklift Licence.
  • Drivers Licence useful but not essential.

Experience & Skills

  • Proven experience operating forklifts in a warehouse or logistics environment
  • Must be trained and competent in manual handling techniques (training provided).
  • Excellent communication skills at all organisational levels, including engagement with external customers, port users, and the public.

Further Information:

  • Skilled in operating counterbalance forklift.
  • Flexibility to work at all times of day and outside.
  • Strong customer service experience and communication skills.
  • Ability to work on own initiative.
  • Hands-on approach and attitude to work.
  • Teamwork/Interpersonal skills.

Shift Availability:

  • Weekday – day and night shifts.
  • Weekend – day and night shifts.
