Portico have opportunities for experienced LGV Driver’s to join the organisation as Casual Drivers to add value to the business by the efficient delivery and collection of goods throughout the UK. Successful candidates will have a background in the transportation of both temperature, time sensitive and containerised short shelf-life products. 

To apply for this role you must be able to demonstrate previous achievements in the following areas:

Responsibilities:

To safely and professionally operate LGV vehicles to deliver and collect loads on time, in full compliance with legal, safety and operational requirements.

  • To ensure that all EU Tachograph and Working Time Directive Rules and Regulations are adhered to at all times.
  • To maintain a good working relationship with managers, staff and customers.
  • To act as an ambassador for the Company while working away from the Operating Centre and at customers premises.
  • To ensure loads are secured at all times.
  • To keep the cleanliness of the vehicle inside and out to a high standard at all times.
  • To report any damage or faults with the vehicle and trailers immediately to the Transport Office.
  • To report immediately all damage, rejections or discrepancies of customers goods to the Transport Office.
  • To ensure that all paperwork is signed correctly at the delivery point and returned to the Transport Office.
  • To ensure that the correct goods are delivered to the correct delivery address and that the goods being delivered match with the relevant paperwork.
  • To ensure that all temperature sensitive goods are transported and delivered at the correct temperature.
  • Drivers are requested to offer all reasonable assistance with the loading/unloading of their vehicle where required at the customers' premises.
  • To undertake multi-drop wholesale market deliveries as directed.
  • To undertake Nights Out which will involve you sleeping in the vehicle.

Qualifications:

  • Category C E Driving Licence – Essential
  • Digital Tacho card – Essential
  • Hold Driver CPC (DQC), is in the process of obtaining Driver CPC, or is committed to obtaining it – Essential
  • FLT Licence – Desirable.

Experience & Skills

Minimum of 2 years’ experience within a similar / comparable industry.

  • Good understanding of EU Tachograph and Working Time Directive Rules and Regulations

  • Weekday – day and night shifts
