Port Operative

Responsibilities:

• Working as part of the ferry and cruise handling team support with the discharge and loading of our vessels.
• Safely and efficiently handle all types of cargo during port operations.
• Authorised to take part in mooring/unmooring operations and to operate cargo handling plant and port infrastructure including Forklift Trucks, Telehandlers, Tug Masters.
• Ensure good housekeeping on the Port as directed by supervisors.
• Work flexibly to permit full operational benefit of labour.

Qualifications:

• A basic standard of literacy and numeracy is required consistent with completing reports and documentation.
• A full driving licence
• HGV Class 1 (desirable)

Experience & Skills

• Experience in using a variety of equipment including Forklift Trucks, Telehandlers, Tug Masters.
• Proven previous experience within the maritime / cruise sector (desired) or another sector, preferable in operations.
• Resilient with the ability to work under pressure and meet agreed deadlines
• Flexibility to work at all times of day and outside.
• Strong customer service experience and communication skills.
• Ability to work on own initiative.
• Hands-on approach and attitude to work.
• Teamwork/Interpersonal skills.
