Loader / Shunter Driver

Responsibilities:

• Operate shunter vehicles (Tugmaster) or Tractor Unit to move trailers and vehicles within the yard, depot or Portsmouth International Port.
• Load and unload goods, materials, or equipment safely and efficiently.
• Ensure loads are secured correctly and comply with transport and safety regulations.
• Carry out local deliveries and collections when required, ensuring goods are transported safely and delivered on time.
• Maintain professional communication with customers during deliveries and collections.
• Comply with all Driver Hours Regulations and correctly use the digital tachograph.
• Complete delivery paperwork, manifests, or electronic records accurately.
• Perform daily vehicle checks and report any defects or maintenance issues.
• Maintain communication with warehouse staff, drivers, and supervisors to coordinate vehicle movements.

Qualifications:

• Valid HGV driving licence (relevant category for vehicle used).
• Driver CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence).
• Digital Tachograph Card.
• Forklift licence (preferred).

Experience & Skills

• Experience operating yard vehicles, shunter trucks, or delivery vehicles.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Previous experience in transport, logistics, or warehouse operations (preferred).
• Knowledge of load security and transport regulations (preferred).
